Job Description
IMPACT Initiatives is a think-and-do-tank based in Geneva aiming to shape practices and influence policies in humanitarian and development settings. This role involves serving as the overall research project focal point for a four-year Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Randomized Control Trial (RCT) programme. The Senior Assessment Officer (SAO) will provide strategic direction and ensure all research activities are implemented in line with project objectives, the agreed study protocol, and donor requirements.
Responsibilities
Research Planning and Design
Serve as the primary focal point for the four-year SRH RCT programme, providing strategic direction.
Lead the design and refinement of annual data collection rounds (quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews/FGDs).
Oversee the contextualisation and translation of data collection tools for Somalia and South Sudan.
Ensure research designs and protocols are validated by HQ and relevant ethics bodies.
Research Implementation
Provide technical guidance to in-country teams regarding enumerator recruitment, training, and field supervision.
Develop and roll out quality assurance frameworks (back-check protocols, data audits).
Monitor data collection progress and resolve methodological challenges across both countries.
Ensure compliance with Data Management Guidelines and ethical requirements.
Data Analysis and Product Drafting
Review analysis and outputs drafted by research partners.
Conduct ad hoc analysis for missions in South Sudan, Somalia, or the Horn of Africa/East Africa region.
Donor and Partner Engagement
Act as the primary interlocutor with donors, providing regular progress updates.
Serve as the key focal point for donor reports and research updates.
Facilitate project review meetings and build relationships with implementing partners.
Project Cycle Management
Ensure compliance with all project cycle phases (planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting).
Track deliverables and timelines, alerting managers to delivery risks.
Compensation & Benefits
Monthly salary between 2,580 CHF and 2,640 CHF (before tax).
Monthly living allowance of 300 USD.

Requirements
Essential
Master’s degree in Public Health, Social Science, Development Studies, or a relevant discipline.
At least 4 years of relevant working experience in humanitarian/development research.
Knowledge of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) in fragile contexts.
Experience designing and managing mixed-methods research (RCT experience preferred).
Fluency in English (written and spoken).
Proficiency in KoboCollect, ODK, or similar platforms.
Desirable
Experience working specifically in Somalia or South Sudan.
Experience conducting research with vulnerable populations (displaced persons, women, and girls).
Strong applied statistics background and experience developing sample frames.
