United Bank for Africa (UBA) Kenya is seeking a Relationship Manager for Corporate Banking. The primary purpose of this role is to drive business growth within the corporate sector by delivering liability and asset growth, increasing fee and commission income, and expanding the bank's market share through strategic relationship management. The role involves managing a substantial portfolio of corporate and high-net-worth clients, identifying new business opportunities, and collaborating with internal teams like Risk, Operations, and Compliance to provide seamless financial solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver liability and asset growth targets for the assigned portfolio.
Grow the customer base to increase fees and commissions and deepen customer share of wallet.
Build a robust portfolio through disciplined calling and strategic positioning of bank products and appropriate pricing structures.
Maximize profit through new business opportunities from both existing and prospective clients using various marketing and networking initiatives.
Implement business growth strategies tailored to different clients and sectors.
Provide an interface between the bank and customers to maintain strong relations and meet client needs within the bank's strategic objectives.
Prepare and submit high-standard credit proposals in conformity with Credit Policy guidelines.
Maintain a 360-degree understanding of client financial needs and provide appropriate bank products and services.
Conduct regular client visits and prepare meetings/visit reports.
Coordinate with internal departments such as Credit and Treasury for seamless service delivery.
Monitor competitor offerings and industry trends to advise on strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Marketing, or a related business field from a well-recognized institution. Professional courses are an added advantage.
Experience: At least 5 years of proven working experience in a Corporate Banking environment with specific exposure to Credit Analysis.
Knowledge: Seasoned banker with established networks among Local, Regional, and Global Corporates.
Portfolio Management: Proven ability to manage an active portfolio size of at least US$ 40m.
Skills and Competencies
Strong technical knowledge of credit analysis, trade finance practices, and cash management solutions.
Excellent numerical skills and financial acumen to analyze complex financial statements and identify trends.
Proficiency in presentation and PowerPoint skills.
High level of integrity and ability to work independently.
Proactive self-starter with the ability to perform SWOT analysis on industry trends.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
Strong negotiation skills and the ability to work effectively within teams.
