Role Overview
The incumbent serves as the post’s nurse with responsibilities that include the medical care of Mission employees and eligible family members under MED approved clinical guidelines. The role involves managing medical equipment, implementing vaccination programs, and coordinating emergency medical contingency planning. The Registered Nurse works in the Medical Unit under the direct supervision of the Medical Provider (MP) or Regional Medical Provider (RMO).
Key Responsibilities
Provide medical care to Mission employees and eligible family members according to MED clinical guidelines.
Maintain and inventory all medical equipment and supplies.
Implement and manage a robust vaccination program.
Administer health education programs for groups and individuals.
Participate in medical emergency contingency planning for the Mission.
Coordinate medical evacuations, hospitalizations, and handle insurance reimbursement methodologies.
Serve as a resource for transporting critically ill patients and maintain relationships with transport facilities.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local and regional medical services for all acuity levels.
Requirements
Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of post-qualification work as a professional nurse is required.
Education: Degree (RN Level) in Nursing or Diploma/Certificate equivalent from an accredited School of Nursing.
Licensure: Must possess and maintain a valid nursing license or a current unrestricted Registered Nursing license from the U.S., Puerto Rico, or Western European equivalent.
Job Knowledge: Must possess critical-thinking skills and understand MED’s policies regarding medical evacuations and local medical resources.
