Job Description
Equity Afia is seeking a Community Oral Health Officer (COHO) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering preventive, promotive, and basic curative oral health services, especially in community and rural settings, while observing the acceptable standards of operation. This role involves clinical dental work, community outreach, and health education.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Procedures: Ability to perform basic dental procedures including examinations, extractions, prophylaxis, and fluoride application.
Health Promotion: Conduct oral disease prevention activities, provide health education, and facilitate community mobilization.
Outreach Programs: Participate in community outreach programs, school dental health initiatives, and mobile dental clinics.
Documentation: Maintain accurate patient records and utilize Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) for reporting.
Standards of Care: Adhere to high standards of dental hygiene, infection prevention, and control protocols.
Professional Development: Commit to continuous professional development to stay updated with industry advancements.
Requirements and Qualifications
Diploma or Degree in Community Oral Health from a recognized institution.
Registration with a valid license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
Minimum of two (2) years’ post-internship experience.
Certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS).
Experience in community outreach programs, school dental health programs, or mobile dental clinics is an added advantage.
Strong clinical skills and knowledge of dental hygiene, oral health, and infection prevention and control.
Proficiency in computer skills (especially Health Management Information Systems).

Good communication and interpersonal skills, especially with rural or underserved populations.
