Information about the role
This is the entry and training grade for the Regional Integration Officer cadre within the Public Service Commission of Kenya. Officers at this level are deployed to various departments including Regional Productive and Services, Regional Political Integration, and the Northern Corridor Program. The role primarily involves collecting data and preparing analytical materials to support Kenya's regional integration interests and projects. You will work under the direct guidance of a senior officer to develop the necessary competencies for the cadre.
Responsibilities and Duties
At Regional Productive and Services and Regional Political Integration departments:
Collecting data and information on sectors such as infrastructure development, transport, communication, meteorology, energy, and the environment.
Assessing data related to agriculture and food security.
Participating in and preparing briefs for preparatory meetings of various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to inform Country Position Papers.
At Northern Corridor Program department:
Collecting specific information on Northern Corridor Development concerning energy and infrastructure projects.
Compiling data to evaluate the impact of these energy and infrastructure projects on the national economy.
Preparing materials for consultative meetings on country position papers with MDAs and other stakeholders.
Disseminating project information to relevant sector stakeholders.
Compiling materials for investment forums and exhibitions related to Northern Corridor Development Projects between partner states.
Requirements, Skills, and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree from a university recognized in Kenya in any of the following disciplines:
Engineering: Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, Energy, Agricultural, Telecommunication, Aeronautical, or Petroleum Engineering.
Natural Sciences: Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, Forestry, or Wildlife Management.
Management & Trade: Tourism, Trade, Business Administration/Management, Disaster Preparedness, or Environmental Management.
Entry-level position: No prior work experience is explicitly required as it is a training grade.
Strong analytical and data collection skills.
Ability to prepare concise briefs and reports.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
