The Receivables Accountant is responsible for managing the entire accounts receivable cycle, ensuring that payments are collected promptly, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role requires close collaboration with the sales team to maintain payment terms and provide excellent service to customers.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable Cycle: Handle the full accounts receivable process from invoicing to collection.
Reconciliation: Analyze and reconcile accounts for both cash and credit customers to ensure accuracy.
Payment Monitoring: Monitor customer accounts to ensure timely payments and follow up on overdue balances.
Sales Team Collaboration: Support the sales team in maintaining payment terms and resolving customer queries regarding their accounts.
Professional Representation: Represent the company professionally during all collection processes and customer interactions.
Record Keeping: Maintain up-to-date and accurate customer ledgers and account records.
Financial Documents: Issue and process customer credit notes and prepare journal vouchers.
Reporting: Generate regular receivables aging reports to provide insights into outstanding balances.
Statutory Compliance: Assist in the preparation of statutory returns, including Value Added Tax (VAT).
Process Improvement: Help develop schedules, procedures, and systems to facilitate efficient workflow and continuous improvement of receivables controls.
Audit Support: Ensure internal control processes are followed and provide assistance during audits.
System Reviews: Conduct internal reviews to identify weaknesses in controls and contribute to process enhancements.
Requirements
Certification: ACCA or CPA affiliate or member.
Experience: Proven experience in an accounts receivable role.
Technical Knowledge: Good understanding of VAT and statutory return processes.
ERP Proficiency: Experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, with SAP Business One considered a significant advantage.
Software Skills: Proficient user of the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word).
Analytical Skills: Strong reconciliation and problem-solving abilities.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
