The Project Manager for Mifugo ni Mali (Livestock is Wealth) is responsible for supporting the design and execution of livestock value chain interventions aligned with the objectives of KCB and the Foundation’s broader strategy. This role involves translating project goals into actionable plans, managing strategic partnerships with county governments and private sector actors, and overseeing field operations to ensure sustainable impact for farmers.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Strategic Execution
- Support the design and execution of livestock value chain interventions aligned with Mifugo ni Mali objectives and the Foundation’s broader strategy.
- Translate project goals into actionable plans, ensuring alignment with timelines, targets, and desired outcomes.
- Identify strategic partners and opportunities that enhance program value chains and geographic reach.
County Government & Partner Coordination
- Engage county governments, agricultural officers, and implementing partners to drive localized delivery of project components.
- Foster strong partnerships that ensure shared accountability, co-financing, and technical collaboration.
- Identify new strategic partners—including private sector, NGOs, cooperatives, and development agencies—to strengthen program reach and value addition.
Contracts, MOUs & Partnership Management
- Lead the development, negotiation, and management of MOUs, contracts, and partnership agreements with counties and strategic partners.
- Monitor partner compliance, deliverables, roles, and responsibilities to ensure alignment with project objectives and donor expectations.
- Maintain organized documentation, support due diligence processes, and coordinate periodic partner reviews.
Team Coordination & Field Operations Management
- Work closely with internal project teams and external field staff to coordinate training, farmer outreach, and value chain activities.
- Motivate and support implementation teams through regular briefings, feedback loops, and joint problem-solving.
Capacity Building & Farmer Training
- Organize and facilitate training for livestock farmers on best practices including animal husbandry, feed management, disease control, and financial literacy.
- Develop training materials and leverage technical partners to improve farmer productivity and resilience.
Community Mobilization & Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead the mobilization of farmer groups, cooperatives, and community leaders to participate in program activities.
- Serve as the primary liaison between KCB Foundation, farmers, cooperatives, and KCB bank team to enhance buy-in.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL)
- Track performance indicators to assess progress toward strategic targets.
- Support real-time learning by collecting and analyzing data on reach, uptake, and outcomes for timely decision-making and donor reporting.
Financial & Risk Management
- Support budgeting, expenditure tracking, and resource planning in collaboration with the finance team.
- Identify implementation risks early and propose practical mitigation measures.
- Ensure all activities comply with KCB Foundation policies, regulatory guidelines, and donor requirements.
Sustainability & Graduation Pathways
- Support design and implementation of graduation models that enable farmers to transition to sustainable livestock enterprises.
- Promote integration with KCB bank and market linkages to support long-term impact beyond the project cycle.
Requirements
Academic & Professional
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in any relevant field is required (RQ).
- Professional Qualifications: Certification in Project Management or Community Development (AA).
- Master’s Degree: MBA, MSc, or MA is an added advantage (AA).
Experience
- Total minimum years of work experience: 5 years.
