The Programme Officer for Landscape Livelihoods, based in Laikipia County, will be responsible for the implementation and portfolio management of the REPLAN project, specifically focusing on Component 2. The role involves coordinating planning, budgeting, and providing oversight to ensure project activities are delivered with high quality, on time, and within budget. You will support community livelihoods and resilience building while representing IUCN in relevant national and local forums.
Major Responsibilities
Implementation and Portfolio Management
Coordinate, plan, budget, and oversee Component 2 of the REPLAN project.
Manage day-to-day implementation and activity delivery to ensure the highest quality of outputs and outcomes.
Support and coordinate implementing partners and consultants with a focus on community livelihoods and resilience.
Collaborate with the national Land Systems team on technical reporting and the development of annual reports.
Contribute to the expansion and development of the Kenya Land Systems projects portfolio.
External Engagement and Communication
Represent IUCN in relevant country forums and facilitate discussions on emerging land systems issues.
Provide evidence-based support and facilitate multi-stakeholder dialogues on policy debates.
Communicate lessons learned to decision-makers and stakeholders through web, print, and media channels.
Identify and manage potential risks associated with IUCN’s public positions in Kenya.
Act as a focal point for IUCN Commissions and Members in programmatic activities.
Programme Development and Resource Mobilization
Contribute to fundraising activities, including the development of concept notes and project proposals.
Nurture relationships with donors, funding agencies, and technical partners to ensure financial viability.
Monitoring and Evaluation
Contribute to the development and implementation of the Kenya Land Systems Monitoring and Evaluation Framework.
Ensure accountability to donors through effective mechanisms and reporting processes.
Use monitoring data for decision-making and project adjustments based on stakeholder feedback.
Lead reporting processes for landscape livelihoods and community resilience components.
Requirements
Education: A degree in Sustainable Finance, Natural Resources Economics, Development Studies, Sustainable Livelihood, Community Development, Environmental Studies, Natural Resource Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
Experience: At least five (5) years of proven experience in sustainable finance (climate/biodiversity finance, impact investing, blended finance, financial inclusion) and livelihoods programming.
Technical Knowledge: Strong expertise in business plans for community enterprises, resilience building, and the nexus between biodiversity conservation and climate change.
Leadership: Demonstrated experience in people management, supervising consultants, and coordinating virtual teams.
Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and online communication tools. Strong communication and diplomacy skills are essential.
