The Program Manager, Green Trade is responsible for the overall management, oversight, and integration of climate and environment considerations into TradeMark Africa’s (TMA) work in support of the green trade element of TMA’s 2023-2030 Strategy. Working within the Business Competitiveness Department, the role involves close collaboration with regional and country teams to embed sustainability into trade operations.\n\n### Key Responsibilities\n\n#### Program Design and Delivery\n* Mitigation and Adaptation: Identify and develop climate change mitigation and adaptation approaches in the trade sector focused on achieving TMA’s corporate climate targets.\n* Fundraising: Actively fundraise for Green Trade programmes through multilateral and bilateral climate funding mechanisms, such as the Green Climate Fund (GCF).\n* Implementation: Lead the execution of Climate Change & Environment programmes, including donor reporting, work planning, and preparing financial forecasts.\n* Partnership Building: Develop and expand relationships with organizations active in climate change programming and international climate financing.\n\n#### Environmental Best Practice and Compliance\n* Policy Development: Review and develop policies, guidelines, and mechanisms to ensure TMA programming delivers on strategic green ambitions, including Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) policies.\n* Tools and Training: Develop project screening, risk monitoring, and impact assessment tools. Train TMA staff and partners to improve organizational capacity and understanding of climate risks.\n* Screening and Audits: Ensure compliance with national legislation and international best practices through high-quality Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs), Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA), and Environmental Audits.\n\n#### Thought Leadership and Research\n* Monitoring Systems: Establish systems to measure and monitor greenhouse gas emissions and environmental parameters in the trade sector.\n* Research and Advocacy: Conduct research into climate change impacts and trends to advocate for innovation within TMA and among external partners.\n* Knowledge Dissemination: Work with the communications team to produce thought leadership pieces (blogs, webinars, articles) to enhance TMA’s visibility in green trade.\n\n#### Monitoring, Learning, and Adaptation\n* Metrics: Develop corporate indicators and methodologies to collect evidence and monitor the progress and impact of interventions.\n* Learning: Document and share lessons learned through reflection events and knowledge-sharing sessions for staff and stakeholders.
