KCA University (KCAU) is seeking qualified and experienced academic staff for the positions of Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, and Lecturer within the department of Networking & Distributed Computing. The successful candidates will be pivotal in building a strong academic culture of excellence, integrity, and innovation.
General Roles and Responsibilities
Across all ranks, faculty members are expected to:
- Teaching & Learning: Facilitate learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels through lectures, seminars, workshops, and tutorials. Assist in developing learning materials and preparing schemes of work.
- Curriculum Development: Participate in the development, planning, and implementation of high-quality curricula for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
- Research & Innovation: Attract research funding through grants and collaborations, lead research teams, and produce publications in reputable refereed journals.
- Supervision: Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in their research work and mentor junior faculty and early-career researchers.
- Administration: Participate in mark-entry and examination management systems, serve on university committees/boards, and contribute to policy formulation.
- Professional Engagement: Foster partnerships, consultancy, and outreach initiatives that enhance the University’s visibility and impact.
Rank-Specific Qualifications and Experience
1. Professor
- Education: An earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field.
- Experience: At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience as an Associate Professor.
- Publications: Minimum of six (6) publications in reputable refereed journals since promotion to Associate Professor.
- Supervision: Supervised at least three (3) master’s and two (2) PhD students to completion since last promotion.
- Funding: Attracted research/development funds as at minimum a Co-PI in at least two projects since last promotion.
- Membership: Registered and in good standing with a relevant professional body.
2. Associate Professor
- Education: An earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field.
- Experience: At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience as a Senior Lecturer.
- Publications: Minimum of five (5) publications in reputable refereed journals since promotion to Senior Lecturer.
- Supervision: Supervised at least three (3) Master’s and one (1) PhD student to completion since last promotion.
- Funding: Attracted research/development funds as a researcher in at least two projects since last promotion.
3. Senior Lecturer
- Education: An earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field.
- Experience: At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience as a Lecturer OR six (6) years of research/industry experience.
- Publications: Minimum of four (4) publications in reputable refereed journals since promotion to Lecturer.
- Supervision: Supervised at least three (3) master’s students to completion as a Lecturer.
- Funding: Attracted research/development funds in at least one project since last promotion.
4. Lecturer
- Education: An earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field.
- Experience: At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience at the university level, in research, or in industry.
- Publications: Minimum of two (2) publications in reputable refereed scholarly journals.
