Job Description
KCA University (KCAU) is a private, non-profit institution founded in 1989. The university is seeking to recruit qualified and experienced academic staff in the Information Systems department at various levels: Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, and Lecturer. These roles involve teaching, facilitating learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, conducting research, and contributing to the academic growth and visibility of the university.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Teach and facilitate learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels through lectures, seminars, workshops, and tutorials.
Participate in the development, planning, and implementation of high-quality curriculum for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
Lead research teams, attract research funding through grants and collaborations, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge.
Supervise postgraduate students (Master’s and PhD) to completion as assigned by the Chair of Department (COD).
Mentor junior faculty, guide early-career researchers, and support staff development.
Participate in program reviews, audits, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Serve on university committees, boards, and the senate and contribute to policy formulation and decision-making.
Administer and mark exams, assignments, and continuous assessment tests, ensuring records are keyed into management systems on time.
Maintain accurate records of student progress, achievement, and attendance.
Foster partnerships, consultancy, and outreach initiatives that enhance the University’s visibility and impact.
Undertake continuous professional development and participate in training activities to enhance skills.
Position-Specific Requirements
Professor
An earned PhD or equivalent earned doctoral degree in the relevant field from an accredited and recognised university.
At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience at the University as an Associate Professor.
A minimum of six (6) publications in reputable refereed journals since promotion or appointment to Associate Professor.
Supervised a minimum of three (3) Master’s and two (2) PhD students to completion since last appointment.
Attracted research or development funds as at minimum as a Co-PI in at least two projects since last promotion.
Registered and a member in good standing with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
Demonstrated evidence of service to the University and community.
Associate Professor
An earned PhD or equivalent earned doctoral degree in the relevant field from an accredited and recognised university.
At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience at the University as a Senior Lecturer.
A minimum of five (5) publications in reputable refereed journals since promotion or appointment as a Senior Lecturer.
Supervised a minimum of three (3) Master’s and one (1) PhD students to completion since promotion.
Attracted research or development funds as a researcher in at least two projects since last promotion.
Registered and a member in good standing with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
Demonstrated evidence of service to the University and community.
Senior Lecturer
An earned PhD or equivalent earned doctoral degree in the relevant field from an accredited and recognised university.
At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience at the university level as a Lecturer or six (6) years of research/industry experience.
A minimum of four (4) publications in reputable refereed journals since last promotion or appointment as Lecturer.
Supervised at least three (3) Master’s students to completion as a Lecturer.
Attracted research or development funds as a researcher in at least one project since last promotion.
Registered and a member in good standing with relevant professional body (where applicable).
Lecturer
An earned PhD or equivalent earned doctoral degree in the relevant field from an accredited and recognised university.
At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience at the university level, in research, or in industry.
A minimum of two (2) publications in reputable refereed scholarly journals.
Registered and a member in good standing with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
Demonstrated evidence of service to the University and community.
