Safal Group is seeking a highly experienced Procurement Manager to oversee the acquisition of goods and services at competitive rates without compromising on quality. The successful candidate will be responsible for enhancing process efficiency from Purchase Requisition (PR) to Purchase Order (PO), optimizing costs, and managing the end-to-end Supply Chain Management (SCM) cycle. The role involves leading a team, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring compliance with both internal policies and external regulatory requirements such as KRA and customs.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Operations
- Lead timely procurement of materials and services at competitive rates while maintaining quality standards.
- Enhance PR to PO process efficiency and fulfill requirements at optimized costs.
- Ensure strict adherence to procurement policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to minimize audit observations.
- Identify and implement cost optimization opportunities and reduce SCM cycle time.
- Coordinate with internal customers to manage urgent requirements and prioritize needs effectively.
- Drive continuous new vendor development to improve product quality and reduce lead times.
- Select, evaluate, and maintain relationships with vendors through periodic performance reviews.
- Negotiate favorable contract terms and deliveries in compliance with local laws.
- Secure material availability according to the Material Requirements Plan (MRP).
- Monitor pricing trends for materials and commodities to minimize negative financial impacts.
- Coordinate with shipping companies and transporters for smooth clearance and delivery to plants.
- Manage relations with customs authorities and KRA to ensure duties and taxes are paid.
- Oversee inventory levels at warehouses to avoid duplication and optimize stock holding.
Supply Chain Administration
- Support company initiatives regarding performance, quality, and safety metrics.
- Contribute to departmental planning and budgeting, including the annual Business Plan Process (BPP).
- Collaborate cross-functionally to create strategic value and manage organizational risk.
- Drive continuous improvement programs within the procurement function.
- Organize, motivate, and develop the procurement team, identifying training needs.
- Maintain 100% accuracy in documentation and data management.
- Ensure company assets are safeguarded and adequate insurance is arranged for goods in transit.
- Monitor operational and financial performance against departmental targets.
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management.
- Certifications: Professional registration with IIMM, IFPSM, CIPS, or APICS is required. A certified course in Supply Chain is an added advantage.
- Experience: At least 10 years of experience in ERP-based Supply Chain management, with 5 years in a similar managerial role.
- Industry Experience: Background in Manufacturing or Consumer Goods is preferred.
Technical Skills and Knowledge
- ERP Proficiency: Must be an expert end-user of ERP systems, preferably SAP ERP.
- Methodologies: Knowledge of Lean tools such as Six Sigma, KAIZEN, 5S, and 8 Waste (Muda).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of local customs authorities and KRA procedures.
