The Plant Mechanic is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on plant machinery and mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance. This role involves inspecting equipment, diagnosing mechanical faults, and repairing industrial machinery such as generators, compressors, and pumps while adhering to strict safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant machinery and mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance.
Inspection: Inspect equipment regularly to identify wear, faults, or potential failures and take corrective action.
Diagnosis & Repair: Diagnose and repair mechanical faults in plant equipment including generators, compressors, forklifts, pumps, engines, gearboxes, and motors.
Assembly: Dismantle, repair, and reassemble mechanical components using appropriate tools and techniques.
Parts Replacement: Replace worn or defective parts and ensure equipment is restored to proper working condition.
Collaboration: Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to resolve mechanical issues and minimize downtime.
Installation: Install, align, and commission new machinery and mechanical components.
Upgrades: Support plant upgrades, modifications, and equipment relocation activities.
Safety Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety procedures and regulatory standards. Maintain proper use of PPE and uphold a safe working environment at all times.
Reporting: Report recurring faults and recommend improvements to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
Qualifications and Requirements
Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Plant Maintenance, Industrial Mechanics, or a related field.
A minimum of 2–5 years of experience in plant maintenance or an industrial manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and schematics.
Good understanding of industrial safety standards and maintenance best practices.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work under pressure.
