The Orthopedic Technologist role at CURE International Hospital is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of technical orthopedic services, including the production, assessment, measurement, and fitting of orthopedic appliances. The role operates within the hospital setting and extends to mobile clinics, requiring a committed professional who can manage inventory, maintain equipment, and contribute to the hospital's educational and spiritual mission.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Ensure efficient and effective assessment, measurement, and fitting of patients with orthopedic appliances that meet hospital standards. This service must be provided both in the hospital and during mobile clinics.
- Participate in regular Continuous Medical Education (CME) activities within the department.
- Travel to mobile clinics to serve patients.
- Maintain the inventory of equipment and supplies on a daily basis, ensuring accountability and security, and reporting needed supplies to the Head of Department (HOD) to keep inventory at proper levels.
- Maintain comprehensive records of all work requested and completed to ensure proper billing.
- Provide general care for tools, machines, and equipment.
- Ensure allocated areas of maintenance are managed daily.
- Embrace adopted methods of organizing the workplace.
- Work proactively towards achieving zero customer complaints.
- Conduct counselling and patient education appropriately.
- Attend department staff meetings at all times.
- Full participation in the hospital’s staff spiritual development programs.
- Produce elbow crutches on a weekly basis.
- Ensure appropriate training for students on attachment.
- Approach the laid down strategic plans with a progressive attitude and actions.
- Adequately follow through department set objectives.
- Ensure compliance with set regulations concerning staff safety.
- Provide educational presentations within the hospital as may be required.
- Understand and stay current with emerging technologies to improve patient services.
- Work with the head of department in budgeting for future equipment needs.
