The Mount Elgon Livelihoods Project Coordinator is responsible for sensitizing, recruiting, contracting, and developing the capacity of smallholder farmers in Sustainable Agriculture for Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation, aimed at sustainable development. The role ensures project implementation follows the Mount Elgon Project document, the Emission Reduction Purchase Agreement, and the SALM Methodology to achieve high-quality results. The Project Coordinator reports directly to the Carbon Projects Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Farmer Engagement: Sensitize, recruit, contract, and develop the capacity of smallholder farmers in Sustainable Agriculture for Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation.
Project Implementation: Work in accordance with the Mount Elgon Project document, the Emission Reduction Purchase Agreement, and the Sustainable Agriculture Land Management (SALM) Methodology to ensure quality and effective project delivery.
Climate Action: Implement practices related to agroforestry, sustainable agriculture land management, and carbon sequestration.
Management & Reporting: Oversee project activities and report progress to the Carbon Projects Manager.
Required Qualifications
Education: University degree in a relevant field (Agriculture, Environmental Science, Forestry, or related studies).
Professional Skills: Knowledge of grant management and compliance issues.
Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the NGO sector.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in leadership roles.
Minimum of 3 years of experience working with agroforestry, sustainable agriculture land management practices, climate change mitigation, and carbon sequestration.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in project management.
Languages: Fluency in English and Kiswahili.
