Pearl Hospital is a Level 4 multi-specialty hospital located in Laikipia County. Guided by the values of Quality, Efficiency, Professionalism, and Compassion, the hospital is seeking a Medical Officer. The role of the Medical Officer is to provide comprehensive medical care to patients by diagnosing, treating, and preventing illnesses while ensuring high standards of clinical practice, patient safety, and ethical conduct in line with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
The Medical Officer will be expected to perform the following duties:
- Examine, diagnose, and treat patients in outpatient, inpatient, and emergency settings.
- Prescribe appropriate medication and treatment plans in accordance with clinical guidelines.
- Perform medical procedures within the scope of practice.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment as necessary.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient medical records.
- Participate in ward rounds, case discussions, and clinical audits.
- Refer patients to specialists or higher-level facilities when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, ethical standards, and legal requirements.
- Participate in continuous medical education and professional development.
- Support junior staff, interns, and students through supervision and mentorship.
- Promote preventive healthcare and patient education.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide on-call services as required.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).
- Registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
- Valid practicing license.
- Minimum of 1 year post-internship experience.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is an added advantage.
