Accurex Leadership and Management Consultants Ltd is looking for a skilled Mason to join their construction and maintenance team. The role involves physical construction, maintenance, and repair of structures using various masonry materials such as bricks, blocks, and stones. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills and a high level of precision in their work.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and Lay Masonry Materials
Mix mortar, concrete, and other bonding materials.
Lay bricks, blocks, and stones in proper alignment and bonding patterns.
Construct walls, partitions, and other structural elements.
Ensure accuracy in measurements and leveling.
Perform Plastering and Finishing Work
Apply plaster, stucco, and other finishes to walls and ceilings.
Smooth and level surfaces for painting or tiling.
Repair cracks, holes, and damaged masonry surfaces.
Maintain and Repair Structures
Inspect existing masonry structures for damage or wear.
Carry out repair and maintenance work on walls, pavements, and floors.
Replace defective bricks, blocks, or stones.
Ensure Safety and Compliance
Follow construction site safety protocols and use protective equipment.
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness at the worksite.
Adhere to building codes, project specifications, and quality standards.
Maintain Tools and Equipment
Properly use and maintain masonry tools such as trowels, levels, and hammers.
Ensure safe storage and handling of equipment and materials.
Report damaged tools or unsafe equipment to supervisors.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: BA/BSc/HND, Diploma, or Certificate in Masonry, Building Construction, or a related field from a recognized institution.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years practical experience in masonry or construction work.
Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints.
Knowledge: Familiarity with construction safety standards and building codes.
