Job Description
The Managing Director & CEO is responsible for leading the planning, designing, construction, ownership, operation, and maintenance of the high voltage electricity transmission grid and regional power interconnectors. The role is accountable to the Board of Directors for providing strategic direction and implementing the Company’s strategic goals, vision, mission, and objectives. This involves the mobilization and management of resources and providing leadership to ensure the Company achieves its mandate as established under the State Corporations Act and the Energy Act No. 1 of 2019.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership: Provide overall leadership to Senior Management and Staff and administer the operations of the Company under Board guidance.
Infrastructure Management: Oversee the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the high voltage transmission grid and interconnectors.
Strategic Implementation: Ensure compliance in formulating and implementing strategic objectives, policies, and plans, including Government Directives and Executive Orders.
Stakeholder Engagement: Forge strategic linkages with Regulators, Government Ministries, Development Partners, and other national/international stakeholders.
Resource Mobilization: Mobilize resources via the Exchequer, Development Finance Institutions, and Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) to support the Strategic Plan.
Revenue Growth: Oversee alternative revenue sources and advise the Board on business opportunities for sustainability.
Human Resources: Establish transparent HR policies and an organizational structure that ensures a clear succession plan.
Financial Oversight: Ensure the annual budget, procurement plans, and performance contracts align with strategic priorities while maintaining accurate financial records.
Qualifications and Experience
Academic: A Master’s degree and a Bachelor’s Degree from recognized institutions.
Professional: Membership to a relevant professional body in good standing and a valid practicing certificate/license where applicable.
Training: Completion of a Leadership course lasting at least four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in office automation applications.
Work Experience: A cumulative service period of fifteen (15) years of relevant work experience, with at least five (5) years served in a senior management position.
