As a Legal Officer II within the Nakuru County Government, the successful candidate will be responsible for representing the County Executive in various legal proceedings and managing the preparation of essential legal documentation. This role involves high-level legal research and providing advisory support to ensure that the county's operations align with established legislative frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Represent the County Executive in litigation and other legal matters.
Prepare legal documents and instruments, including legal opinions, legal briefs, leases, contracts, and memoranda of understanding for the County Executive.
Conduct legal research on pending case files.
Undertake research on specific legal matters and emerging trends to provide opinions that facilitate the justice process.
Recommend alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms for addressing legal matters.
Supervise subordinate staff within the Office of the County Attorney.
Collect and collate research data.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the County Attorney.
Requirements and Qualifications
Must possess a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognized university.
Must be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
Must be a member of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) in good standing.
Must hold a valid Practicing License.
Must be conversant with the operations of the County Government and applicable laws.
