The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) is a constitutional commission established under Article 171 of the Constitution. The Commission is looking to recruit a Law Clerk to provide high-level legal research and administrative support to judicial functions. This role is offered on a five-year renewable contract based on satisfactory performance.
Responsibilities
Conduct extensive legal research on complex points of law.
Draft legal opinions, briefs, and judicial rulings.
Summarize case files and identify core legal issues for judicial review.
Assist judges or judicial officers during court proceedings.
Maintain and organize legal documentation and records to ensure efficient case management.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Commission or relevant judicial authorities.
Requirements
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized University.
Be an Advocate of the High Court with a current practicing certificate.
Post Graduate Diploma in Law.
At least six (6) years post-admission qualification experience as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
Membership to the Law Society of Kenya (LSK).
Proficiency in computer applications.
Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution regarding leadership and integrity.
A Senior Management Course or its equivalent will be an added advantage.
Remuneration and Terms
Terms of Service: Five (5) years renewable contract.
Gross Salary Scale: Min. Kshs 231,077 - Max Kshs 344,688 per month.
