Job Description
UN-Habitat, the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities. The Urban Economy Branch is seeking a Landscape Planning and Design Expert to join the Public Space and Urban Regeneration team. The consultant will provide technical expertise and support for urban design proposals, spatial analysis, and project implementation.
Role and Responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of the Public Space and Urban Regeneration team Lead, the consultant will:
Provide technical expertise and input in urban design proposals and urban planning projects.
Develop analysis, collection, interpretation, and representation of data and spatial analysis.
Produce desk and field research on topics related to urban planning projects.
Elaborate project proposals and support fundraising efforts related to urban planning and urban regeneration.
Advise and implement participatory processes in the scope of urban planning projects.
Advise and develop materials for events, outreach, communications, capacity-building sessions, and workshops.
Develop graphic materials and publications.
Draft progress reports regarding project implementation, including documentation, knowledge management, advocacy, and outreach.
Coordinate project implementation with partners, including follow-up activities, quality supervision, and donor reporting.
Provide overall support to activities and technical advice to the Public Space and Urban Regeneration team and broader UN-Habitat initiatives.
Requirements and Qualifications
Academic Background: An advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Geography, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Urban Development, or a related field. A first-level university degree (Bachelor's) combined with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Professional Experience: At least five (5) years of relevant work experience in the field of urban and territorial planning is required.
Technical Skills: Relevant experience in data analytics is required.
Desirable: Work experience with an international organization is considered an advantage.
