Job Description
Kempinski Hotels S.A., Europe's oldest luxury hotel group, is seeking an IT Trainee to join our team in Nairobi. Under the supervision of the Departmental Trainer and Training Manager, the trainee will gain hands-on experience in managing hotel IT systems and providing technical support in a luxury hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out or arrange for routine and emergency technical equipment maintenance, including system housekeeping and security procedures.
Coordinate equipment maintenance during banquets and other functions to ensure smooth operations and ensure equipment is returned in good repair.
Provide technical support to guests and staff regarding AV equipment and other technical tools.
Monitor and maintain adequate supplies of peripherals such as cables, connectors, and spares.
Maintain the AV control room and the inventory of AV equipment within the hotel.
Perform routine inspections of maintenance operational areas and report malfunctions to the IT Manager.
Monitor energy conservation procedures and report any irregularities.
Manage and maintain Database Management Systems, ensuring integrity, security, and proper backup/recovery procedures.
Prepare Crystal reports and solve technical and operational IT challenges reported by users.
Support computer hardware and software malfunctions across all departments.
Manage and prioritize IT problems impacting revenue or guest experience for quick resolution.
Maintain records of systems-related inventory and coordinate timely repair of faulty equipment.
Establish and maintain procedures for the backup and restoration of all data and programs.
Enforce security procedures for the revision of user access rights and passwords.
Keep all systems and software updated to the current release.
Set up and maintain office automation systems, local area networks (LAN), and wide system offices.
Assist users with hotel software applications and maintain relevant documentation.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Degree or Diploma in IT from a recognized learning institution.
No prior work experience is required.
Recent completion of studies (graduated or completed coursework in 2025/2026).
Kenyan Citizenship is required.
Ability to work and communicate effectively in a multinational environment.
Excellent grooming skills and must be well-versed in professional and personal etiquette.
Good communication skills and a positive learning attitude.
