The overall purpose of this job is to ensure effective implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) and Food Safety Management System (FSMS), ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, and drive improvement in overall product quality, operational efficiency, and food safety standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Review product specifications for existing and new products; conduct hazard analysis for all production processes and develop or update related procedures.
Conduct daily compliance rounds across all production sections to identify gaps in quality and food safety implementation and follow up corrective actions.
Plan, conduct, and document internal audits for quality, food safety, ISO standards, and GMP compliance.
Coordinate trainings conducted by auditors or subject-matter experts to strengthen compliance with ISO, QMS, FSMS, and regulatory requirements.
Conduct regular refresher training for the Quality team and relevant staff on standards, compliance, SOPs, and updates to QMS/FSMS documentation.
Participate in the drafting, updating, and review of policies, procedures, and manuals in line with ISO, Quality Management, and Food Safety Management requirements.
Coordinate and respond to queries during external audits and inspections from regulatory bodies (e.g., UNBS, KEBS, Public Health Officers, NEMA, County Health Inspectors, HALAL, FSSC/ISO certification bodies).
Lead and coordinate root cause analysis for any non-conformities or quality issues, and support teams in developing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Oversee inter-laboratory comparison activities; review results, analyze variances, and lead root cause analysis where discrepancies occur.
Conduct hazard analysis and develop or update HACCP plans for existing products and new product development.
Participate in new product development by preparing product specifications and ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards.
Prepare for and participate in monthly Management Review Meetings (MRM) by compiling compliance reports, audit results, and improvement recommendations.
Inspect and validate new equipment, tools, and processes to ensure they meet food safety and quality requirements before commissioning.
