The Internal Inspector role involves conducting internal inspections across farms, production units, and collection centers to ensure strict adherence to organic farming standards and certification requirements. You will be responsible for field verification, yield estimation, and maintaining high standards of traceability and compliance documentation.
Responsibilities
Internal Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections across farms, production units, and collection centers in line with Internal Control System (ICS) procedures.
Compliance Verification: Verify compliance with organic farming practices, including field management, harvesting, and input usage.
Data Integrity: Carry out yield estimation and balance verification to ensure production accuracy and accountability.
Corrective Actions: Identify non-compliance issues, recommend corrective actions, and follow through on their implementation.
Farmer Support: Provide on-site guidance and support farmer training to improve adherence to certification standards.
Traceability: Ensure full traceability of produce and maintain accurate, up-to-date compliance records.
Reporting: Prepare detailed inspection reports and supporting documentation for internal audits and external certification processes.
Collaboration: Work closely with field officers, buying clerks, and internal teams to ensure operational quality and efficiency.
Monitoring: Proactively report any violations and monitor ongoing compliance within the assigned regions.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Diploma in Agriculture or a related field.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years’ experience in agriculture, compliance, or a related role.
Standards Knowledge: Strong understanding of organic farming standards, Fair Trade principles, and climate-smart agriculture.
Digital Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and digital data collection tools.
Communication: Strong communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders effectively.
Facilitation: Experience in training or facilitating farmer engagement is an added advantage.
Field Work: Willingness to spend extended periods working in field environments.
Languages: Fluency in both English and Swahili.
Licensing: Valid motorcycle riding license with practical riding experience.
