Individual Contractor: Communication Assistant

Responsibilities and Duties

• Event Support: Support the implementation of public events, workshops, round tables, and forums.
• Documentation and Content Creation: Photograph and coordinate photography for UNODC/PLEAD II events and field missions; develop web stories, press releases, and media advisories.
• Activity Implementation: Assist in generating research studies and policy activities carried out by the project.
• Campaign Planning: Support the development of campaign work plans, identifying strategies to reach target audiences through social media.
• Social Media Management: Develop high-quality visual and written content for social media platforms; manage online accounts and respond to user queries.
• Material Design: Design and produce communications materials including brochures, posters, and audiovisual content (photos/videos) based on project needs.
• Monitoring and Analytics: Use specialized software to monitor and report on the effectiveness of social media coverage and engagement.
• Digital Archiving: Maintain a comprehensive digital archive of all project photos, stories, and press coverage.
• Online Updates: In liaison with the communications team, maintain up-to-date information on UNODC ROEA and HQ websites and prepare advocacy materials.
• Media Relations: Facilitate community and media relations, ensuring all coverage of UNODC is monitored and reported to relevant staff.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Education: A High School diploma is mandatory. A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, public relations, international relations, marketing, or development is highly desirable.
• Professional Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of progressively responsible experience in communications and media, or related areas is required.
• Organizational Context: Previous experience working within the United Nations system or similar international organizations is an added advantage.
• Sector Knowledge: Experience supporting Criminal Justice or related sectors is highly desirable.
