The Head of Sport is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring sporting excellence and promoting a holistic education within a Christian boarding environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Support and promote the Christian ethos of the school and drive forward the vision and mission for Turi to become the leading school in Africa.
Excellence in Sport: Ensure the reputation and delivery of sporting excellence across both the Senior and Preparatory Schools.
Management: Line-manage the Assistant Head of Sport and lead a team of talented coaches. Participate effectively in the Co-curricular Leadership Team (CCLT).
Facilities & Training: Oversee the development and implementation of sporting facilities and training programs.
Logistics: Coordinate tours and fixtures, with a specific focus on the safe logistical execution of overnight tours, including accommodation and guardian bookings.
Principal Duties
Event Management: Oversee all internal and external sporting events and produce the fixture list for each term.
Coaching & Development: Identify talented children and provide pathways for development through programs like the Altiora Peto Programme (APP). Ensure high-quality coaching and facilitate INSETs for staff.
Administrative Oversight: Manage transport, catering, and estate requirements for sports. Maintain and manage coaching resources and departmental budgets.
Reporting: Organise and collate weekly sports reports and liaise with the Deputy Head regarding termly and Speech Day awards.
Facility Maintenance: Liaise with grounds staff to ensure high-quality pitches and swimming pools. Ensure all equipment meets safety standards and is well-maintained.
Scholarships: Link closely with the Senior School regarding Sports Scholarship entry and assessment programs.
