Practical Action is seeking to recruit a Head of Programmes – Agriculture who will support our work through developing and managing innovative and high impact programs in selected rural areas of Kenya. Specifically, the role holder will be responsible for the agriculture programs’ delivery, and will lead in strategy development, coordinate business development, and oversee implementation, ensuring the programs are on time, on scope and on budget.
The market systems development (MSD) approach is at the core of Practical Action’s programming and as such, the Head of Programmes (HoP) will be responsible for overall programs’ performance and quality, ensuring that each program is catalytic in building resilience of the targeted populations in a sustainable manner.
Responsibilities
Lead the strategic direction and delivery of agriculture programs in rural Kenya.
Oversee program implementation, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
Ensure program quality and performance by applying Market Systems Development (MSD) approaches.
Lead in strategy development and coordinate business development efforts.
Manage donor relations and lead consortium building for new opportunities.
Oversee proposal development processes to ensure high-quality submissions.
Work with relevant leads to strengthen the organisational profile through brand proposition and communications.
Requirements
BA/BSc/HND qualification in Agriculture, Project Management, or a relevant field.
Proven experience in developing and managing high-impact agriculture programs.
Demonstrated expertise in the Market Systems Development (MSD) approach.
Experience in strategic planning and business development within an NGO context.
Strong track record in donor relations, consortium management, and proposal development.
Excellent leadership skills and the ability to manage multi-faceted programs.
