The General Ledger, Asset & Cost Accountant at The Nairobi Hospital is responsible for preparing monthly reconciliations, financial statements, and audit-standard schedules, while managing the tracking, recording, and depreciation of fixed assets. The role also involves overseeing inventory verification and stock-taking processes in the pharmacies and other user departments.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Reconciliation: Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliations, schedules, journals, and variance analysis in line with established financial reporting standards. Prepare monthly financial statements and audit-standard schedules and working paper files to support financial reporting and compliance.
Asset Management: Receive, tag, and record hospital fixed assets in the general ledger and asset card. Prepare fixed assets schedules, reconcile balances, and provide asset valuation information for disposal. Depreciate the hospital's fixed assets monthly.
Asset & Inventory Verification: Confirm physical location and existence of fixed assets. Ensure outsourced staff undertake stock-taking in pharmacies, prepare monthly variance reports, perform random counts, and verify expiries in stores and user departments. Review inventory levels to prevent overstocking.
Audit & Compliance: Respond to internal and external audit queries and perform other assigned duties.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or other business-related fields from a recognized institution.
Qualified accountant with relevant professional qualifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K) or ACCA.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in Financial Accounting, with 3 years at a supervisory level.
