Job Description
The General Cleaner role at Nairobi Central Hardware Ltd is crucial for ensuring a clean, safe, and hygienic working environment across all company premises. The position involves routine cleaning, sanitation, basic maintenance support, and messenger duties as assigned. The Cleaner must uphold health and safety standards, maintain company facilities, and support daily operations through flexibility, reliability, and effective communication.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cleaning & Housekeeping
Sweep and mop floors daily.
Dust surfaces, furniture, and fixtures.
Clean and sanitize restrooms (toilets, sinks, and fixtures) every two (2) hours.
Empty trash bins and dispose of waste properly.
Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces.
Maintain cleanliness of working areas including countertops, sinks, and appliances.
Clean the display area, including occasional use of air blowers to remove excess dust.
Wash mugs and spoons used by clients during the day.
Wash company vehicles as scheduled.
Refill consumables such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels.
Maintenance Support
Assist with minor maintenance tasks such as: Changing light bulbs and Fixing minor leaks.
Report any maintenance issues or repair needs promptly.
Support painting of walls and related upkeep as required.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Adhere to all company health and safety regulations.
Follow established cleaning schedules and procedures.
Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and correctly.
Comply with waste disposal and recycling guidelines.
Messenger & Errand Duties
Collect urgent items from nearby clients.
Make deliveries to nearby clients when required.
Run official errands as assigned by management.
Communication & Coordination
Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues regarding tasks and issues.
Notify management in a timely manner of required cleaning supplies or equipment.
Flexibility & Availability
Adapt to changing cleaning needs and work schedules.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends when required.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Ability to follow instructions and cleaning schedules.
Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks.
Honest, reliable, and detail-oriented.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Prior experience is an added experience.
REQUIREMENTS:
Relevant academic certificates, or letters of recommendation.
Updated CV including three professional referees (with phone and email).
National ID.
Police Clearance Report is mandatory.
