Role Overview
Absa Bank Limited is seeking a Full Stack Engineer to support high-performing, scalable, enterprise-grade application design and development within agile teams. This role involves producing, testing, documenting, and reviewing source code to deliver robust full-stack solutions for the bank.
Key Responsibilities
System Design & Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems using Scala, Spark, and Python.
Data Pipelines: Build and optimize data pipelines and processing workflows to ensure efficient data handling.
AWS Integration: Manage and integrate various AWS backend services including Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, ECR, and ECS.
Collaboration: Work closely with front-end developers and other stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions.
Technical Leadership: Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical decision-making processes.
Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code while performing troubleshooting and debugging across the stack.
Innovation: Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to improve existing systems.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Scala, Spark, and/or Python.
Cloud Experience: Solid experience with AWS backend services.
Architecture Knowledge: Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, and serverless architectures.
Problem Solving: Ability to think conceptually and solve complex, abstract problems.
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in an agile environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with front-end technologies (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices (e.g., Terraform).
Knowledge of containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
