The Kenya Power & Lighting Company Limited, Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme 2006 ("the Scheme”) is seeking a Finance Officer, Payments. The role is responsible for managing the payment cycle, ensuring accurate and timely financial transactions, and maintaining compliance with statutory regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Cash Management: Manage petty cash and imprest, ensuring timely replenishment and accurate month-end balancing.
Tax Compliance: Compute and remit statutory deductions and taxes accurately and on time; track and update tax accounts to facilitate timely remittance and compliance reporting.
Financial Reporting: Prepare weekly and monthly payables and expense reports; maintain up-to-date accounts payable and accounts receivable records.
Payables Management: Prepare ageing analysis of payables and reconcile supplier statements; resolve payment-related issues.
Documentation & Audit: Ensure proper filing and custody of payment-related documents (invoices, POs, receipts) for audit; support audit processes by providing required documentation and schedules.
Transaction Processing: Receive invoices, verify supporting documentation, and record them in the system; record all payments and receipts in ledgers promptly.
Payment Execution: Prepare vouchers for approved payments; facilitate the release of cheques/bank payments to vendors and dispatch payroll.
Stakeholder Relations: Maintain relationships with vendors and stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance option) or an equivalent from an accredited institution.
Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA-Level II completed, CPA-Intermediate level completed).
Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience as support staff in the pension or accounting industry.
Membership in a relevant professional accounting body.
