Vivo Energy, the Shell licensee in 16 African countries, is seeking a Field Based Account Manager for Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG). The primary purpose of this role is to manage a customer portfolio to achieve key business KPIs including Volume, Margin, Debt, Growth, and Customer Service. The successful candidate will be responsible for territory-focused growth, managing bulk LPG customer relationships, and ensuring financial controls like debt collection and credit management are upheld.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Customers
Manage a customer portfolio to meet business targets for volume and margins.
Monitor growth and performance using accurate account plans for key customers.
Identify emerging market opportunities and recruit new customers to expand business scale.
Increase Bulk LPG penetration through targeted sales tools.
Develop and review business plans with distributors regularly.
Build and maintain rapport with all customers.
Conduct market intelligence, maintaining data on market size, competitors, and pricing.
Defend existing business by renewing major customer contracts.
Manage credit and debt collection according to company policy.
Resolve invoice disputes and ensure timely delivery of statements.
Conduct regular equipment audits at customer sites and coordinate with Engineering for technical needs such as tank installations and revalidation.
Marketing & Supply Chain
Grow market share in the assigned territory.
Plan and implement LPG customer events.
Promote alternative payment methods, such as pre-payments for resellers.
Provide accurate sales forecasts for S&OP processes.
Collaborate with distribution teams to ensure seamless product delivery.
Challenges

Balancing credit management with customer cash flow needs.
Working autonomously in a field-based environment to deliver results.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or Engineering (NQF Level 7).
Experience: Minimum of 3 years in Sales & Marketing.
Technical Background: Engineering background is strongly preferred.
Key Skills: Business, financial, and commercial acumen; debt management; Key Account Management; and negotiation skills.
Competencies: Ability to work independently, results-driven, team player, and market awareness.
