The Seventh-Day Adventist Church is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist for a full-time, on-site role in Nairobi. The specialist will be responsible for implementing and monitoring safety programs, performing workplace inspections, and ensuring adherence to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations. The role involves conducting safety trainings, evaluating occupational risks, and promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organization. You will collaborate with multiple departments to address and resolve issues related to workplace safety and environmental health.
Responsibilities
Implement and monitor organizational safety programs and protocols.
Perform regular workplace inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
Ensure full compliance with local and international environment, health, and safety (EHS) regulations.
Conduct and facilitate comprehensive safety training sessions for staff.
Evaluate occupational risks and recommend effective risk mitigation strategies.
Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across the organization.
Collaborate with various departments to address and resolve safety-related concerns.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or a related field.
Expertise in Health & Safety, Workplace Safety, and Safety Training.
Experience in Occupational Health and Environment Health and Safety (EHS) practices.
Strong knowledge of local and international EHS regulations and compliance requirements.
Proficiency in creating and delivering safety training programs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA compliance, or similar qualifications are considered a significant advantage.
