Kisumu County is seeking to recruit a qualified Environmental Engineer. The role focuses on transforming the livelihood of the people of Kisumu County through accountable and efficient leadership, specifically by applying engineering expertise to environmental conservation, waste management, and climate change initiatives.
Responsibilities
Design and oversee systems for waste management and water treatment within the county.
Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIA) and audits (EA) for county projects.
Ensure all county engineering projects comply with the Environmental Management and Coordination Act (EMCA 1999), the Water Act, and the Climate Change Act.
Develop strategies for environmental protection and resource conservation.
Utilize environmental modelling and design software to predict impacts and design solutions.
Participate in multi-sectoral teams for climate change adaptation and mitigation.
Requirements for Appointment
Must be a Kenyan Citizen.
Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.
Registered or eligible for registration as a Graduate Engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
Minimum of three (3) years relevant professional experience.
Possession of EIA/EA certification by NEMA is an added advantage.
Working knowledge of EMCA 1999, the Water Act, and the Climate Change Act.
Proficiency in environmental modelling and design software.
