The Duct Technician is responsible for the fabrication, installation, and maintenance of air duct systems within residential and commercial buildings. They ensure proper airflow throughout the HVAC system for optimal heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) performance.
Responsibilities and Accountability
Read and interpret blueprints and schematics for duct design and layout.
Select and cut sheet metal based on specifications.
Assemble duct sections using sheet metal brakes, shears, and other tools.
Apply sealants and insulation to ensure airtightness and thermal efficiency.
Transport and install ductwork within buildings, navigating tight spaces and avoiding obstructions.
Secure ductwork to walls, ceilings, and floors using appropriate hangers and fasteners.
Maintain proper duct sizing and configuration for optimal airflow.
Seal all duct connections to prevent air leaks.
Inspect ductwork for damage, leaks, or blockages.
Clean ducts to remove dust, debris, and allergens.
Repair minor duct leaks and tears.
Assist senior technicians with system installation and repair.
Any other duties assigned by the supervisor in support of project execution.
Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum qualification: Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Fabrication, or related technical field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in HVAC ductwork or sheet metal fabrication (preferred).
Proficiency in using hand and power tools for sheet metal work.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
Good physical condition with the ability to lift and maneuver heavy materials.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
