This role involves providing transport services within the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), reporting to the Senior Administrative Officer. The job holder is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of assigned motor vehicles, ensuring their cleanliness, fueling, security, servicing, repair & maintenance, and maintaining accurate transport records.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Driving assigned and authorized motor vehicles, and carrying out routine checks on the vehicle's coolant, oil, electrical and braking system, tyre pressure, and other essential areas.
- Detecting and reporting defective systems of the assigned motor vehicle.
- Ensuring vehicle dealers and garages service, repair and maintain vehicles correctly.
- Maintaining work tickets for assigned motor vehicles accurately.
- Ensuring the safety and security of the assigned motor vehicle, passengers, and goods while on and off the road.
- Maintaining cleanliness of the assigned motor vehicles.
- Fuelling the assigned motor vehicle and recording the drawn quantities of fuel in the work ticket.
- Ensuring the assigned motor vehicle has a valid insurance certificate displayed.
- Reporting any accidents and incidents to the supervisor and/or nearest police station.
- Monitoring and reporting the expiry of motor insurance policy and inspection certificates to the supervisor.
- Performing any other lawful duty as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
For appointment to this position, the ideal candidate must have:
- Minimum two (2) years' previous satisfactory driving experience after obtaining the driving license.
- A Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D+ (Plus) or its equivalent.
- A Valid Driving Licence free from any current endorsement(s) for the classes of vehicles.
- An Occupational Trade Test III for Drivers.
- Passed the Suitability Test for Drivers from Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT), Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya, or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- A Defensive Driving Certificate from Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT), Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya, or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Undertaken a Refresher Course for Drivers lasting not less than one (1) week from Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT), Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya, or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- A Valid First Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week from St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT), Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya, or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Proficiency in computer applications.

Integrity Requirements
Successful candidates MUST satisfy the requirements of the Leadership and Integrity Act set out in Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010 and shall be required to present the following documents before the offer letter:
- Tax Compliance Certificate (TCC) from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA);
- Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB);
- Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI);
- Duly filled and stamped Self-Declaration/Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC); and
- Clearance Certificate from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
