Job Description
Namati is seeking a Director of People, Talent, and Human Resources to lead a team of five covering the full HR function in specialized roles. This leader will be responsible for building a global People domain, prioritizing team training, professional growth, and strategic alignment with the organization's mission of placing the power of law in the hands of people.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategy
Partner with the COO to develop and execute a global people strategy aligned with mission, values, and strategic priorities.
Oversee the global approach to talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, professional development, and succession planning.
Partner with senior leadership to design and execute change management processes.
Foster collaboration across people, operations, finance, and leadership teams to strengthen the employee experience.
Global HR Oversight
Ensure HR systems and processes are built-out, legally compliant, and locally contextualized across all operating countries.
Maintain HR policies that reflect best practices, legal requirements, and organizational values.
Manage sensitive employee relations matters and provide oversight for safeguarding across the organization.
Establish a People data and analytics strategy, including HR KPIs and reporting frameworks.
Lead the total rewards strategy, including compensation, benefits, and recognition programs across multiple labor markets.
Team and People Management
Lead strategic planning for the global people domain, including annual goal-setting and budgeting.
Ensure robust communication of policies and decisions impacting staff.
Mentor the global people team, ensuring clear objectives, ambitious workplans, and opportunities for growth.
Experience and Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years of progressive global HR experience.
At least 4 years of experience managing or leading teams across multiple countries or regions.
Professional Certification: HR certifications such as SHRM, SPHR, CIPD, or equivalent.
Experience working in an international NGO is required; experience in matrixed organizations is strongly preferred.
Proven success in implementing comprehensive HR functions globally.
Capacity to make sound, principled decisions in complex situations.
Strategic visioning skills and excellent organizational management.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Location and Travel
Based in Nairobi, Kenya, with a hybrid office policy (reporting to the office two days per week between Tuesday and Thursday).
Requires international travel (approximately two trips per year).
Flexibility to work non-standard hours to accommodate various time zones.
