Job Description
The Director, Admissions, Assessment and Certification is a senior leadership role responsible to the Principal/Chief Executive Officer for the strategic management of admissions, assessment, examination, and certification processes within the Kenya School of TVET. The role ensures the integrity of academic records and the efficient progression of trainees from enrollment to graduation.
Duties and Responsibilities
Policy & Strategy: Developing and implementing comprehensive admission, assessment, examination, and certification policies and procedures.
Admissions Management: Overseeing the entire trainee application, selection, and admission process; analyzing admission trends and demographics to inform future recruitment and enrollment strategies.
Records Custody: Acting as the primary custodian of all trainee admission, examination, assessment, and certification records.
Academic Scheduling: Coordinating the development and communication of training, assessment, and examination timetables.
Market Engagement: Marketing the school's academic programmes and establishing relationships with various training institutions and organizations for trainee practice.
Placement & Evaluation: Spearheading the monitoring and evaluation of trainees on teaching practice and resolving issues between students and host institutions.
Certification & Authentication: Overseeing the processing, approval, and issuance of academic transcripts; authenticating certificates and managing course substitutions and credit transfers.
Data Management: Coordinating the updating of trainee information in the school's database.
Examination Integrity: Overseeing implementation and enforcement of examination security measures, managing printing and storage of materials, and enforcing academic integrity policies.
Inclusion & Graduation: Coordinating the mainstreaming of trainees with special needs and managing the preparation of official graduation lists.
Administration: Coordinating capacity building in the directorate and managing performance across the team.
Other Duties: Performing any other function incidental to KSTVET's functions under the Legal Notice No 123 of 2022 and the State Corporation's Act.
Job Specifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
A cumulative service period of fifteen (15) years relevant work experience, with at least three (3) years at the grade of Deputy Director.
Bachelor's Degree in any of the following disciplines: Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, Mechanical, Civil, etc.), Computer Science/IT, Home Economics, Hospitality Management, Applied Science, Agriculture, Business Administration, Social Work, Media Technology, Sport Science, or any other relevant qualification.
Master's Degree in a relevant field or Curriculum Development.
Professional Status: Membership to a professional body where applicable and in good standing.
Training: Pedagogy qualification and registration as a trainer by TVETA.
Leadership: Certificate in a Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
Technical: Proficiency in computer applications and demonstrated high degree of professional competence and managerial capability.
