The Development Officer Grade 11 will work under the guidance of the Director of the Kenyatta University Foundation to spearhead fundraising efforts and manage critical partnerships. This role is pivotal for the strategic growth and financial sustainability of the foundation, involving the development of resource mobilization plans, donor cultivation, and ensuring statutory compliance for all operations.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies and annual development plans to meet the university's resource goals.
Relationship Management: Identify, cultivate, and manage sustainable relationships with donors, sponsors, alumni, and various development partners.
Proposal and Grant Management: Prepare high-quality funding proposals, grant applications, and detailed reports for donors to secure and maintain funding.
Engagement Initiatives: Coordinate fundraising events, marketing campaigns, and alumni engagement initiatives to build a community of supporters.
Database Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records and databases to track engagement and contributions effectively.
Compliance and Governance: Coordinate the legal registration, statutory compliance, and regulatory filings of the Foundation, working closely with the legal office and relevant authorities.
Communication Support: Support communication and marketing efforts related to fundraising and outreach activities to increase visibility.
Performance Reporting: Monitor fundraising performance metrics and prepare periodic reports for leadership review.
General Support: Perform any other duties as assigned to support the overall mission of the Kenyatta University Foundation.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Must possess a Master’s Degree in Social Sciences from a recognized institution of higher learning.
Professional Experience: At least five (5) years of working experience in fundraising, development work, partnerships, or resource mobilization.
Technical Proficiency: High level of proficiency in MS Office suite.
Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication, networking, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
Integrity: High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Work Ethic: Ability to work independently and meet strict fundraising targets.
