ABC EXPAT is seeking a high-calibre, results-driven Business Development Manager to lead its Energy Efficiency function in Kenya as the company continues its expansion into 2026 and beyond. This is a dynamic, high-impact role offering the opportunity to drive business growth, build strong client relationships, and contribute meaningfully to sustainability and climate action within one of Africa’s fastest-growing energy markets.
Key Responsibilities
- New Business Acquisition: Identify and pursue new business opportunities in energy efficiency across commercial and industrial (C&I) sectors.
- Sales Cycle Management: Own the full end-to-end sales cycle, from lead generation and initial outreach to closing high-value contracts.
- Solution Development: Develop and present tailored, value-driven energy solutions, including ESCO performance contracts, ROI models, measurement & verification (M&V) frameworks, and financing structures aligned with sustainable technologies.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain long-term strategic relationships with both new and existing clients, positioning yourself as a trusted advisor on energy optimization, cost reduction, and regulatory compliance.
- Onboarding & Retention: Support seamless client onboarding and partner closely with delivery teams to drive retention, client satisfaction, and upsell opportunities.
- Market Analysis: Conduct in-depth market research to identify emerging trends, regulatory developments, and green financing opportunities within Kenya’s sustainability landscape.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with operations, finance, and marketing teams to align commercial strategies with technical capabilities and service delivery.
- Reporting: Monitor and report on sales performance, pipeline health, and forecast accuracy using CRM tools.
- Brand Ambassadorship: Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and client engagements to promote energy efficiency and innovative financing models.
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years’ B2B sales experience managing high-value deals, preferably within energy, sustainability, renewables, technology, or engineering sectors.
- Proven track record of exceeding targets and managing complex consultative sales.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate technical and financial solutions to various stakeholders.
- Experience with ESCO models, performance contracting, and measurement & verification (M&V).
- Relevant certification such as CMVP® (Certified Measurement & Verification Professional) is an added advantage.
Education & Technical Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) for effective pipeline management.
- Experience with lead generation tools, cold outreach automation, and social selling platforms.
