Design Engineer

Key Performance Areas:

• Meet departmental KPIs such as Material efficiency (Kg/m2), design efficiency (hrs/design, designs/day), and design errors (% of order).
• Meet required design timelines as agreed with line managers to ensure customer expectations are met.
• Collaborate with the sales team for scope details of new enquiries and final details of confirmed jobs.
• Design Steel Framed Structures for a diverse range of applications using the latest technology in Structural Design & analysis.
• Generate accurate bills of materials for pricing purposes.
• Specify appropriate materials based on structural specifications and codes of practice during the design process.
• Generate complete design calculations and analysis reports for all confirmed jobs.
• Liaise with detailers in the preparation of drawings for internal and external use.
• Check details on drawings to ensure compliance with all design specifications.
• Conduct random quality checks/inspections for jobs under fabrication whenever required.
• Participate in the coaching and training of new recruits in the department to ensure continuous improvement.
• Perform any other related or relevant duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from a reputable institution.
• Computer Literacy (MS Office).
• Experience in the functional use of design spreadsheets and Computer-Aided Design Software (e.g., AutoCAD, Prokon, Masterseries & StaadPro).
• 2–3 years of working experience in Structural Designs and related projects.
