The Deputy Director, Content, Campaigns and Digital - Africa is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the foundation's regional storytelling, digital presence, and integrated campaigns across the continent. This role manages high-performing teams, sets strategic direction for regional content, and strengthens the foundation's brand presence by showcasing impact and innovation while ensuring cultural authenticity.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and mentor a high-performing team, fostering collaboration, learning, and professional growth.
Lead Africa-wide storytelling and campaigns that showcase impact, innovation, and partnership.
Oversee regional content, digital, and campaign functions, maintaining high standards for creativity and inclusivity.
Strengthen regional brand and media presence by building relationships with journalists and creators to amplify African voices.
Drive innovation and data-informed engagement using analytics and audience insights to guide strategy.
Collaborate across the foundation to ensure consistent, integrated messaging that aligns with both regional and global goals.
Advise senior leaders and spokespeople on communications strategy and narrative positioning.
Requirements and Experience
Advanced degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. communications, marketing, journalism, economics).
Minimum 12–15 years of senior-level experience in strategic communications, marketing, brand, and digital strategy, ideally spanning multiple African contexts.
Deep understanding of African media landscapes, campaign ecosystems, narrative development, and audience engagement.
Proven track record of operating in global, multinational environments and navigating complex matrixed organizations.
Demonstrated success leading integrated, multi-platform campaigns that achieve measurable impact.
Deep understanding of media and audience metrics and ability to apply data to communications strategy.
Exceptional storytelling, content production, editing, and writing skills.
Experience in brand strategy development, delivery, and reputation management.
Demonstrated success building and managing diverse teams across regions and cultures.
Experience representing an organization at high-level forums and public platforms.
Superior written and verbal communication in English; French is highly desirable.
