This role involves establishing and overseeing credit control systems to ensure timely debt collection and meeting monthly collection targets. The Credit Controller manages debtor days, actively chases overdue invoices, maintains accurate records, and liaises with relevant stakeholders to manage debt effectively, all while ensuring compliance with set regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in setting up the credit control systems.
Oversight of the daily credit control activities and ensuring monthly collection targets are met.
Ensure that debts are paid in a timely manner.
Meet cash and debtor day targets set by the company.
Chase overdue invoices by telephone, email, and letter within agreed timescales.
Maintain accurate records of all chasing activity.
Regular meetings with relevant stakeholders to ensure all relevant debts are managed as necessary.
Identify changes in payment patterns and proactively propose action to avert indebtedness.
Ensure that all transactions are compliant with set regulations.
Handle disputed bills and negotiate to bring payment within the agreed terms.
Provide accurate advice on billing queries.
Respond promptly and completely to both client and internal enquiries.
Propose write off of irrecoverable Work in Progress (WIP) and disbursements.
Providing ad-hoc reporting as and when requested.
Post payments to accounts and allocate as required.
Undertake account reconciliations as required.
Ensure monthly processing deadlines are met as required.
Send out monthly client statements/letters as may be agreed from time to time.
Develop the credit management capability within the practice.
Other duties as delegated from time to time by the line manager or any other person designated in their absence.
Keep the partnership up to date with new credit management techniques and practices.
Requirements
Qualifications required:
Minimum academic qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting or any relevant field.
Qualifications as an added advantage: CPA K certification.
Professional registration: Not specified.
Experience required:
General work experience (years): 5 years.
