Role Overview
The Chief Investments Officer (CIO) defines and implements Nabo Capital’s investment philosophy, asset allocation strategies, and portfolio construction frameworks. This is a senior leadership role responsible for achieving superior risk-adjusted returns and driving product innovation.
Job Responsibilities
Investment Leadership
- Define and implement Nabo Capital’s investment philosophy, asset allocation strategies, and portfolio construction frameworks.
- Lead a team of portfolio managers, analysts, and strategists to deliver superior risk-adjusted returns across all mandates.
- Oversee investment committees, internal governance, and compliance with CMA and global regulatory standards.
Product Strategy & Innovation
- Spearhead the design and lifecycle management of goal-based investment products (e.g., Lifestyle, Security, Aspirational, Legacy portfolios).
- Translate market insights, customer needs, and competitor analysis into compelling product offerings across asset classes.
- Ensure all products are digitally accessible, commercially viable, and aligned with Nabo’s broader client experience vision.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Digital, Technology, CX, and Retail Strategy teams to embed investment solutions into Nabo’s digital ecosystem.
- Collaborate with distribution teams to optimize product messaging, education, and adoption across retail, high-net-worth, and institutional channels.
Performance Management & Innovation Culture
- Define and track investment KPIs, fund performance, and client satisfaction metrics.
- Foster a high-performance culture of innovation, agility, and discipline in investment decision-making.
Key Qualifications and Experience
- Track Record: 10+ years in investment management with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role (CIO, Deputy CIO, Head of Investments).
- Education: BA/BSc/HND qualification.
- Experience launching and managing investment products at scale (e.g., goal-based portfolios, ETFs, REITs, MMFs).
- Demonstrated alpha generation: Documented history of consistent outperformance against benchmarks across market cycles.
- Scale Experience: Track record of growing AUM significantly, ideally having scaled a portfolio or fund through multiple growth phases.
- Product Builder: Experience launching new investment products or funds from concept to market.
- African Markets Expertise: Deep understanding of African capital markets, regulatory environment, and macroeconomic drivers; global markets exposure is a strong plus.
