The Corporate Finance Manager leads the review of processes and systems at BAT Kenya plc to ensure compliance with BAT Group and local corporate governance requirements. This senior role involves execution of strategy, process custodianship, and management responsibilities.
Principal Accountabilities
Compliance Reviews: Perform compliance reviews on pre-identified high-risk processes and prepare written reports for the Board of Directors and Senior Leadership Team, explaining findings and action plans for improvement.
Risk-Based Reviews: Conduct independent risk-based operational process reviews to ensure systems and procedures support business goals.
Control Framework: Drive the review of risk and control frameworks, lead cross-functional teams in self-assessment of internal controls (annual control navigator assessment), and monitor remedial action plans.
Investigations: Perform ad-hoc reviews and investigations into suspected irregularities.
Training: Provide formal training for management and staff to raise awareness of risk and controls.
Board Support: Provide administrative support to the Board Audit & Risk Committee, including preparation of papers and assisting with internal/external audits.
Process Efficiency: Develop and drive process efficiency improvements based on best practice and Group standardization.
Governance Monitoring: Conduct monthly monitoring and reporting of internal controls as per the Kenya Governance Committee's Terms of Reference.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: A relevant university degree.
Professional Certifications: Financial or audit background with a professional accountancy qualification (such as ACCA or CPA).
Experience: Minimum of 8 years of relevant finance/audit experience, with at least 3 years specifically in a controlling or audit-related field.
IT Skills: Working knowledge of SAP is an added advantage; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
