The Accounts Intern will support the Finance team in day-to-day accounting operations, donor fund tracking, financial documentation, and compliance. The internship is designed to provide practical, hands-on experience in NGO financial management while ensuring accurate financial records and adherence to donor and organizational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Documentation: Assist in posting and filing payment vouchers, receipts, invoices, and supporting documents. Support maintenance of accurate physical and electronic filing systems.
Reconciliations: Assist with bank, M-Pesa, and petty cash documentation and reconciliations.
Donor Management: Support tracking of donor-funded expenditures against approved budgets and organize financial documentation for audits and reporting.
Payment Processing: Assist in processing supplier, consultant, and staff payments in line with internal controls. Verify invoices and contracts before payment.
Reporting & Audits: Support the preparation of monthly financial reports, schedules, and summaries for donor reports. Assist with audit preparations by compiling required documents.
General Support: Carry out other finance-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Recent graduate with a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting or a related field.
Professional Certification: CPA Part III (or equivalent).
Skills: Strong attention to detail, commitment to accuracy, and basic understanding of NGO financial systems.
