Job Description
The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development is recruiting twenty (20) individuals for the position of Cook III (CSG 15/JG 'E'). This is an entry-grade role within the cook's cadre, requiring the officer to be primarily on-the-job training and carry out duties under the supervision of a senior officer. The appointment is based on a one (1) year contract.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Scale (Basic): Ksh. 21,120 to Ksh. 26,250 per month
House Allowance: Kshs. 6,500 per month
Commuter Allowance: Kshs. 3,000 per month
Leave Allowance: Kshs. 6,500 (Once yearly)
Leave Entitlement: 30 working days
Medical Cover: As provided by the Government
Terms of Service: One (1) year contract
Duties and Responsibilities
As an entry-grade Cook III, duties will include:
Preparation of raw foods for cooking.
Ensuring the cleanliness of equipment used in production.
Maintaining hygiene by ensuring cleaning of the kitchen and its surroundings.
Setting up and preparing equipment for use in food preparation and production.
Alerting the supervisor of any defective equipment.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must meet one of the following criteria:
Option 1 (KCSE + Craft Certificate):
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade "D" plain or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; AND
Craft Certificate in Food and Beverage Production, Sales and Services or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Option 2 (KCSE + Formal Course):
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade "D" plain or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; AND
Attendance of a formal course lasting not less than two (2) months in Food Production organized by the Kenya Utalii College or another recognized institution.
