Role Overview
Under the direct supervision of a Consular Officer, the Consular Associate is assigned a wide range of responsibilities in the American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit, Nonimmigrant Visa (NIV) Unit, Immigrant Visa Unit, and/or Fraud Prevention Unit (FPU). The jobholder provides consular services to U.S. citizens, conducts non-adjudicatory visa processing, and assists in investigation and validation studies. The incumbent also handles correspondence with the public, attorneys, U.S. and host governments, Congress, and other parties.
Responsibilities and Duties
Consular Support: Provide essential services to U.S. citizens and conduct non-adjudicatory visa processing for both immigrant and non-immigrant applications.
Data Management: Input data into consular systems with high accuracy, ensuring any errors made by applicants or staff are identified and corrected.
Investigation Assistance: Support investigation and validation studies within the Fraud Prevention Unit.
Communication: Manage official correspondence with external stakeholders, including legal representatives and government bodies.
Administration: Handle task management, organizational filing, and drafting of official reports.
Regulatory Compliance: Learn and apply complex U.S. and host country laws, regulations, legal precedents, and court decisions correctly.
Qualifications and Skills
Education: Completion of High School is required.
Language: Level IV (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing of English is required.
Security Clearance: Must be able to secure and maintain a Secret level security clearance.
Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated skills in MS Office Suite and general computer skills, including database management.
Interpersonal Skills: Tact and good judgment in dealing with the public under difficult and sensitive circumstances.
Analytical Ability: Sensitivity in evaluating evidence and applying regulations accurately.
