Role Overview
The Consular Associate works under the direct supervision of a Consular Officer and is assigned a wide range of responsibilities within the American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit, Nonimmigrant Visa (NIV) Unit, Immigrant Visa Unit, and/or Fraud Prevention Unit (FPU). The jobholder facilitates consular services for U.S. citizens, performs non-adjudicatory visa processing, and assists with investigations and validation studies. This role requires the ability to handle complex correspondence with the public, legal representatives, and government officials while maintaining strict security standards.
Key Responsibilities
Provide essential consular services to U.S. citizens in the region.
Conduct non-adjudicatory visa processing for both immigrant and nonimmigrant visa units.
Assist in fraud prevention investigations and validation studies to ensure program integrity.
Manage and respond to correspondence from the general public, attorneys, U.S. and host government entities, and Congressional offices.
Maintain and uphold requirements for a Secret level security clearance.
Perform administrative duties as assigned within the consular section.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Completion of High School is required (KCSE or equivalent).
Experience:
Minimum of three years of office administrative experience is required, including at least one year of specific consular experience for the full performance level.
Candidates with two years of office administration (FP-07 Training Level) or one year of office administration (FP-08 Training Level) may be considered.
Note: Preference is given to filling the position at the full performance level.
Security Clearance: Must be eligible to secure and maintain a Secret level security clearance.
