Role Overview
Under the direct supervision of a Consular Officer, the Consular Associate is assigned a wide range of responsibilities in the American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit, Nonimmigrant Visa (NIV) Unit, Immigrant Visa Unit, and/or Fraud Prevention Unit (FPU). The jobholder plays a critical role in providing consular services to U.S. citizens, conducting non-adjudicatory visa processing, and assisting in investigation and validation studies.
Key Responsibilities
Consular Support: Provide consular services to U.S. citizens and conduct non-adjudicatory visa processing tasks.
Investigation & Validation: Assist in investigation and validation studies within the Fraud Prevention Unit (FPU).
Correspondence Management: Handle official correspondence with the general public, attorneys, U.S. and host governments, Congress, and other relevant parties.
Administrative Duties: Perform high-level administrative tasks to support the efficient functioning of the consular units.
Security Compliance: Secure and maintain a Secret level security clearance to handle sensitive information and documentation.
Requirements and Qualifications
Experience:
A minimum of three years of office administrative experience is required, with at least one year of specific consular experience (Full Performance Level).
Candidates at the trainee level may be considered with two years of office administration (FP-07) or one year (FP-08) if no full performance candidates are available.
Education: Completion of High School is required.
Security: Must be able to secure and maintain a Secret level security clearance.
